Dancing Goats Coffee
Since 1988, Dancing Goats® Coffee has been committed to ethical trading practices, sustainable roasting processes, and a relationship with the land, the people, and our team. We know that doing things the right way is the only way to make the perfect cup of coffee. It is the only way to ensure we can keep pouring them for many more years.
LOW-IMPACT PROCESS. HIGH-IMPACT COFFEE. A BETTER WAY TO BREW.
OVER 30 YEARS OF SMART, SUSTAINABLE, EXCEPTIONAL COFFEE IN YOUR CUP
In the remote highlands of 9th century Abyssinia, now Ethiopia, a lone goatherd named Kaldi noticed his goats were full of energy–dancing and prancing, after eating a small red fruit from a nearby shrub. Not wishing to be left out of the fun, he tried the cherries, and soon he was dancing too. According to legend, Kaldi and his goats had discovered coffee.
In 1988, we opened Dancing Goats® Coffee Bar in Olympia, Washington, serving locally roasted Batdorf & Bronson® coffee. A few years later, the two beloved Olympia institutions merged, paving the way for decades of innovation in the quest to create great coffee.
It is a long road from Abyssinia to your cup, but we are glad to be on that journey with you.
FROM FARMING TO ROASTING TO YOUR CUP: MAKING HIGH-IMPACT COFFEE FOR YOU
We want to do more than make the best coffee. We want to make it the right way.
Growing. We have been building direct relationships with coffee farmers long before phrases like “Direct Trade” had any buzz. We are proud to have decades-long relationships with many of our coffee producers around the globe, promoting sustainable, environmentally friendly processes that result in the best beans.
Processing. Our growing partners are the best at what they do. The cherries are picked at peak ripeness, milled, sorted, and shipped globally.
Roasting. Our artisan roasters only begin roasting your beans after you have placed your order, providing maximum freshness for every order and assuring you have the best cup of coffee possible.
Brewing. All staff receive in-depth training from our award-winning coffee instructors. Our baristas spend several months training before they are certified to use the espresso machines and instructed on the right way to make your drink.
We put a lot into our coffee. At every step of the way, we want it to be perfect when it hits your cup.

We are more than happy to brew up a sample.

IMPLEMENTING SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES IN NEARLY EVERY ASPECT OF BUSINESS
From the beginning, Dancing Goats® Coffee has been committed to producing outstanding coffee and doing more than our competitors. We wanted to do more for our farmers, more for our customers, and more for our environment. When running the day-to-day business of our company, we’ve used the same attention to detail that we put into perfecting each of our coffees. Dancing Goats® Coffee was the first 100% green-powered coffee roaster in the United States. As we grow our company, we will continue to have even more opportunities to exemplify what a business can do when it focuses on community and sustainability.
We are honored to join over 4,000 other companies in working to create more transparent and sustainable business practices!
If you’re familiar with us, you know we have long been known for our sustainability efforts. By becoming a B Corp Certified Company, we are further committing to operating as a force for good by maintaining continued efforts on environmental and socio-economic levels.
