About the Foundation
The Governor’s Mansion Foundation, an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-partisan organization, honors the historical and cultural significance of the Washington State Governor’s Mansion by maintaining and enhancing the furnishings, art, and library collection in the public rooms of the Mansion, educating the public about the Mansion and its history, and advocating on its behalf. The Governor’s Mansion Foundation is independent of the Governor’s Office and the Governor.
The Governor’s Mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Washington Heritage Register and is also part of the National Votes for Women Trail.
Tour the Governor's Mansion
Washington’s Governor’s Mansion is the oldest building on the Capital Campus, in the Capital city of Olympia. We hope you'll consider taking a tour of this historic landmark when you visit Olympia. Visit the public rooms – The Great Hall, Drawing Room, Library, Family Room, Gallery, West and East Corridors, State Dining Room, and Ballroom, and hear about the historical and cultural significance of the mansion’s furnishings, art, and library collections.
View the new family photo display showcasing the six state governors who served before the mansion’s completion and sixteen families who have lived there since its construction in 1909. Holiday tours, given on the first and second Wednesday of December, are always popular and reservations begin mid-November.
When you become a Friend of the Governor’s Mansion Foundation, your contribution helps to ensure that the Foundation can continue its work in maintaining and preserving the Mansion’s history. In addition, being a Friend of the Mansion has its benefits. Friends receive a quarterly electronic newsletter which will keep Friends in touch regarding Foundation news, special events, historical notations, and other important announcements.
