Lake Lois Habitat Reserve

Natural trails through a wooded area around a small, picturesque lake fed by Woodland Creek is the setting for this natural habitat area. A 1/4 mile interpretive loop trail winds through the wooded area and along the shoreline. An overlook and benches are located along the trails for wildlife viewing. Bald eagles, herons, waterfowl, otters, deer, and squirrels are often seen. Parking: A few spaces in the NE corner of the Safeway grocery store parking lot may be used by habitat reserve patrons. Parking is also available at Woodland Creek Community Park, crossing at the crosswalk on Pacific Avenue. Lake Lois is named after Lois McKinney, who operated a resort on the lake. Lois McKinney’s historic home, located within the habitat reserve, is among one of Lacey’s historic structures dating back to 1931.
