Recess Monkey is the nationally acclaimed trio of Seattle teachers who make music for kids and families that truly rocks. Living separate lives as teachers and indie band musicians, Jack, Drew and Korum quickly discovered a connection between the kids they taught and the music that they played and love. As an elaborate experiment after years in the Seattle indie music scene, the band wrote and recorded an album’s worth of songs based on Drew’s half-day Kindergarten classroom and within months were filling rooms around Seattle with high energy songs, bouncing kids and relieved parents. Recess Monkey was born!
Twenty years, fourteen albums and thousands of live shows around North America later, Recess Monkey is known for prolific, eclectic musical output and their contagiously exciting live shows. The band strives to strike a balance between focusing on kid-centric ideas and musical authenticity that connects each member of the family unit.
